Former NFL Star Says 20 Concussions Haven't Affected Him
Former NFL star Bill Romanowski is more focused than ever on his health more than two decades after leaving the league. In a new interview with TMZ Sports, the four-time Super Bowl champ spoke about his workout routine today and how his brain is holding up despite many head injuries throughout his career.
"I work out every day, I swim every day, I lift weights, I get in hyperbaric oxygen treatments, I do red light therapy," he said of his regimen. "I do a lot of things, and right now, I can truly say that it's working."
He told the outlet he suffered "20 documented concussions" in his time in the league from 1988 to 2003, but he isn't feeling any effects from the head injuries today. As a result, staying on top of his health is of utmost priority.
Romanowski also confessed he was "worried" about his own health after Brett Favre's Parkinson's diagnosis. He went on to recount a tense on-field moment he had with the trailblazing quarterback.
"I remember hitting Brett Favre and I remember grabbing him by the throat and holding him down, and he'd whack me in the head and he said, 'Hit me harder next time, Romo!'" Romanowski recounted. "It's kind of like you want him to fight back a little bit, and he's like 'Hit me harder next time, Romo!' and I was almost kind of like, 'Damn, what do I do about that?'"
