REI's massive winter sale just went live with discounts of up to 40% (or more, if you know where to look) on everything from camping gear to electronics and so much more, but this sale also offers shoppers a chance to stock up on some of the retailer's best hiking pants. Fjallraven's iconic Vidda Pro pants are currently selling for the lowest price we've seen all year while Cotopaxi's Subo pants are now on sale in all colors. But the sweetest deal of the sale is on REI's house-brand trail pants that are now under $50 in multiple colors.
REI Co-op Trailmade Pants are now on sale for just $49, a meaty 30% off their normal price of $70. These forgiving hiking pants have earned nearly 250 five-star ratings from REI shoppers who say they're "super durable" but "lightweight," so they won't weigh you down. They're currently on sale in four great colors—black, tan, green, and navy—and come in waist sizes 28 to 50 and inseams of 30, 32, and 34 inches.

They might look pretty straightforward, but these REI hiking pants are packed with great features. They're made from a nylon-spandex blend that's quick-drying, breathable, and very flexible, so kicking a leg up on a great rock hold won't be an issue. They've also been treated with a non-fluorinated water-repellent coating to help slick moisture, but they also offer UPF 50+ sun protection. They have two side hand pockets, two back pockets, and a zippered stash pocket on the thigh, and they even have a handy loop on the hip to hang your sunglasses. Conveniently, they've also been designed with belt loops if you choose to wear them off-trail and need to spruce it up a bit.
REI shoppers love these pants for so many reasons, but one of them is most certainly their versatility. "I biked across the United States over 53 days, outdoors almost the whole time, and these are the only pants I brought," a shopper said. "I have also used them as travel pants and camped in them for a week straight. They don't have any noticeable signs of wear…a rare piece of gear that is truly worth the asking price."

For others, it's more about the fit. "I bought these before a trip to Iceland that included four days hiking the 34-mile Laugavegur Trail," a shopper began. "The pants I wore on day one slipped down constantly…switching to these eliminated the problem due to the drawstring that kept them in place at all times." Another shopper summed it up by simply calling them the "best-fitting pants ever."
We've seen past versions of REI Co-op's classic Trailmade Pants go on sale before, and every time, they sell out in a flash. If you're looking for a new pair, make sure you get your size and favorite color in the cart ASAP, because they won't stick around forever.
