Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore's Kids Watched Their Classic Film Together
The onscreen chemistry between Adam Sander and Drew Barrymore is undeniable, evidenced by how many movies the pair have appeared in together since first starring in the 1998 romantic comedy The Wedding Singer. In the years since, Sandler and Barrymore have started their respective families and are raising children, who now apparently watch their parents movies together.
Barrymore made the admission during Monday's episode of her daytime talk show, The Drew Barrymore Show, while chatting with Georgie & Mandy's First Wedding stars Emily Osment and Montana Jordan. While speaking about the new series, Osment—whose brother is the actor Haley Joel Osment—pivoted and admitted that she had just watched 50 First Dates for the first time.
The 2004 film stars Sandler as Henry, a womanizer who falls for an art teacher named Lucy, who suffers from amnesia and forgets him every time she falls asleep. As such, he's forced to win her over again with every new day. "Somehow it missed me and I watched it for the first time a couple months ago and sobbed," Osment said.
"That makes me so happy," Barrymore gushed. "My daughter and Adam's daughter were watching it at my house the other night and I was like, 'Why are you guys watching this? Don't you get enough of me and your dad?' And they were just so happy and I was like, 'Oh, but this is so sweet and wonderful.'"
When Osment noted that it "must be kind of comforting" for Barrymore to see her kids watching her movies, the 49-year-old added: "It is! Because your kids will, a lot of the time, reject so many things about you that when you see them embracing something, you're like, 'Oh, how fantastic!'"
It's unclear which daughters Barrymore was referring to, but she shares two girls with her with ex-husnand Will Kopelman, Olive, 12, and Frankie, 10. Meanwhile, Sander and his wife Jackie of more than 20 years are parents to Sunny, 16, and Sadie, 18. In either case, given that their children are evidently close, it seems that the chemistry between the two extends offscreen and then some.
