Sydney Sweeney Sees Huge Pay Bump After Recent Hit Films
Sydney Sweeney has seen a huge pay bump since the success of her last few films, such as the gory thriller Immaculate and the rom-com Anyone But You, in which she starred opposite Glen Powell.
Per to The Hollywood Reporter, Sweeney received about $2 million for her part in Anyone But You. She also made $250,000 for her role as executive producer, a credit she received after agreeing to a supporting role in Madame Web to ensure Anyone But You’s greenlight. While Madame Web bombed with critics and audiences, the bawdy comedy grossed $225 million against a $25 million budget, solidifying Sweeney and Powell as emerging A-listers.
Immaculate, a Euro-inflected modern giallo which Sweeney co-produced, earned $28 million against a $9 million budget, making it a smaller but still substantial hit. For that film, she was paid $250,000. She earned only $65,000 for her awards-worthy turn in Reality, based on the case of whistleblower Reality Winner, which was released to Max.
Unsurprisingly, Sweeney is now negotiating much bigger paydays. Earlier this month, it was announced that Sweeney would earn $7.5 million for her co-starring role (opposite Amanda Seyfried) in Paul Feig’s upcoming thriller The Housemaid.
The outlet contextualized Sweeney’s gains as a “notable jump that is not too common in modern Hollywood, where big hits tend to come from franchise plays and, A-list actors aside, pay jumps come in pre-negotiated increments.”
Sweeney’s $7.5 million payday now makes her one of the highest-paid actresses of her generation. She’s second only to her Euphoria co-star Zendaya, who recently pulled down $10 million for her leading role in Challengers.
