'Naked and Afraid' Reality Star Dies in Freak Car Accident at 34
Survivalist reality star Sarah Danser, who appeared on the Discovery Channel series Naked and Afraid, has died following a car crash in Hawaii on Sunday. She was 34.
Danser appeared in the 2017, season eight episode of the show, "Lost At Sea," in which she and her fellow survivalist were stranded at sea and had to make their way to Exuma Cays in the Bahamas. She also competed in an episode of the short-lived CW reality competition series Fight to Survive in 2023.
According to KSLA 12 News, the accident occurred in Kahala, Honolulu, when a 59-year-old man lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a parked car that Danser had been a passenger in. She was hospitalized in critical condition along with another woman in the parked car, but later died on Tuesday. Police said that speed was a factor in the accident, but not drugs or alcohol.
Danser was a self-described master diver, boat captain, survivalist and "pirate" who had been living in Hawaii for about 12 years, but was originally from Castle Rock, CO. When she wasn't traveling around the world, she lived part-time on a boat at Kewalo Basin.

Her father and brother had arrived at the hospital on Tuesday and said that when she died, Danser had been wearing lei, scarves and bandanas given by her friends. "Magical is the way to describe her," said her brother, Jake Danser. "Sarah had this positive energy about her that just really filled the environment that she was in."
Dan Danser, her father, added: "I actually saw how much of a difference she made in the lives of others. I think she saved my life once, diving in Indonesia."
Danser's family also said that she was a two-time breast cancer survivor.
Island Divers Hawaii, where Danser was employed, remembered her in a tribute on Thursday. "Heavy hearts as we say goodbye to a good friend and great captain," a Facebook post read. "Sarah brought such great energy to everyone she came in contact with. You will be greatly missed."
