Jelly Roll's Nutrition Coach Reveals How Singer Lost 100 Pounds
Jelly Roll is now down a whopping 100 pounds, and this week the country star documented his weight loss journey with the help of his chef and nutrition coach, who revealed a few of the singer's secrets.
"Next year when ya'll see me, you won't recognize me," the 39-year-old said at the beginning of a video posted to Instagram this week. "I'm going to get under a pile of weights in a way that I never have." The video then pivoted to Jelly Roll's chef Ian Larios, who admitted that by the halfway point of his tour, the 39-year-old has been "crushing it" and had just surpassed his 100-pound weight loss.
To achieve this goal, Larios said that his client has been playing a lot of basketball and boxing. But his diet has also undergone an overhaul, as Larios walked fans through Jelly Roll's pre-show snack, which was a banana with a squeeze of honey and dark chocolate grated over top.
For his post-show meal, Larios explained that Jelly Roll is still able to indulge in his favorites, given a high protein, low-fat makeover. In this instance, he was preparing Nashville-style hot chicken, which was dredged in potato and rice flour and then air-fried to lose the oil. The same goes with a side of fries he was preparing, which he boiled in bone broth for added protein before crisping in the air fryer because "it tricks your brain" into thinking you're getting something greasy and indulgent.
Earlier this year, Jelly Roll updated fans when he hit his initial 70-pound weight loss, which he achieved by training for a 5K.
"I just did my first 5K. It was huge man. I feel almost emotional man it was crazy. I lost a little bit of weight trying to do this," he said back in May after after participating in Bert Kreischer and Tom Segura's 2 Bears 5K Race at the Rose Bowl. "I truly have lost like 70 pounds getting ready for this. I've been training a few days a week pretty hard.
"It's funny in life we think money will solve all our problems, and then God blessed me with some of it and I realized it didn't solve them. I realized health is wealth," he later added.
With his latest milestone, it seems clear that Jelly Roll is still on a roll, so to speak.
