Janelle Monáe Just Recreated an Iconic Michael Jackson Video
At the 67th Annual Grammy Awards, several artists and celebrities paid tribute to the late, great Quincy Jones. In a special segment of the awards show, the beloved musician, producer, and arranger was honored by Will Smith, Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, and Lainey Wilson. But, in a surprising "thriller" (as Will Smith put it), Janelle Monáe surprised the 2025 Grammys with her own tribute to the legacy of Quincy Jones — by recreating the iconic Michael Jackson video "Don’t Stop ’til You Get Enough."
Decked out in a tuxedo and rocking the signature MJ silver socks paired with black shoes, Monáe's take on "Don’t Stop 'Til You Get Enough" accurately recreated the energy of the early Jackson hit, which was produced by Quincy Jones and released on July 10, 1970.

Monáe's cover of "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" was as much about her vocal performance as it was about the moves. Just as anyone who has attempted to moonwalk in a bar after a few drinks knows, if you're going to do a Michael Jackson impression, you've got to own it. And that's exactly what Monáe did: Whatever she lacked in not actually being Michael Jackson, she made up for in pure commitment to the bit. She did the leg kick. She grabbed her crotch. She jumped on a table. And in a strange, perhaps accidental tribute to later Michael Jackson videos, she also pulled off her tux, revealing a shirt with the words "I Love QJ."
Clearly, Monáe's message was clear: We wouldn't have groundbreaking hits like "Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough" without Quincy Jones. Michael Jackson may have had the moves, but Jones had the vision.
