Disney's Expensive Star Wars Failure Will Be Converted Into Office Space
Disney’s costly Star Wars hotel won’t be welcoming guests back any time soon.
The building that was the Galactic Starcruiser hotel in Disney World’s Epcot Center is now being converted into office space, not a new attraction as fans of the park had previously hoped.
The Wrap reports the former immersive Star Wars hotel will not be space for Walt Disney Engineering, which is the company’s creative arm of retail, theme parks, and cruise ships. That team is currently working on a park expansion in Florida, which includes a new Monsters Inc. attraction.
The previous Galactic Starcruiser was a hands-on hotel experience that took place in the Star Wars universe and opened to the public in March 2022. However, the fun lasted for only a year and a half as the doors closed in September 2023. A one-night stay cost $1,200 per night per guest, according to Parade.
Post-closure, the hotel started making headlines once again because of a four-hour YouTube video made by a theme park enthusiast named Jenny Nicholson about the “spectacular failure.” The hours-long clip received 11 million viewings.
There have been reports that Disney was contemplating turning the space into a Star Wars theatrical dinner experience that would have utilized the former hotel’s lobby, bridge, bar, and restaurant. Disney has confirmed, the building is no longer open to park guests.

While the Galactic Starcruiser won’t be taking any new guests, Disney World attendees won’t have to go to a galaxy far, far away to get their Star Wars fix as the park still holds rides like Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.
