This Titanium Timex May Be the Best Watch They've Ever Made
Titanium is strong, lightweight and highly resistant to corrosion. That’s why we’re suckers for watches cast in the feathery alloy and one of the reasons the new Giorgio Galli S2Ti Timex watch could end up in our collection. Named for the brand’s head of design, this piece represents the final iteration of his S series for Timex. Limited to just 500 pieces, the time-only S2Ti watch is an exercise in monochromatic simplicity and elegance in a highly durable package.

The 38mm-by-46mm titanium case is reinforced in the mid section with forged carbon fiber. Beneath a domed, edge-to-edge, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, the understated, titanium dial is satin finished. All three hands are polished for contrast and legibility as is the applied stainless-steel ring hour track. A dozen notches around the circle stand in lieu of indexes or numerals. Galli’s signature and the S2Ti name are featured between 5 and 7 o’clock.

Beneath its minimalistically haute exterior, and visible through a sapphire glass exhibition window, beats a 26-jewel, Swiss-made, Sellita caliber SW200-1 automatic movement with a 41 hour power reserve. The full titanium linked bracelet is secured with a custom-designed deployant clasp and uses Timex’s “I-Size” system and a quick release. So you can resize or swap in an 18mm strap without the need for tools. In total the S2Ti weighs in at just 85 grams, which is a little less than 60 percent of what it would have weighed had the watch been constructed in stainless steel.
For anyone who shares our appreciation of titanium and design simplicity, the 500 pieces are now available on timex.com and priced at $1,950.
