NASCAR's Ryan Blaney Confirms Sydney Sweeney Is a True Gearhead
In November 2024, Syndey Sweeney got behind the wheel at the Charlotte Motor Speedway and took some laps like a legit NASCAR driver. This shouldn't come as any surprise to those who know a thing or two about Sydney Sweeney. If you've ever followed the TikTok account, Syd's Garage, then you know the actress spends a decent amount of time working on vintage cars.
But now, in case there's any doubt about Sweeney's love of cool vehicles, NASCAR champ Ryan Blaney recently opened up how Sweeney is the real deal. In a new interview, Blaney explained what meeting Sydney Sweeny was like, confirming she is "a huge fan of cars and motorsports." He even revealed which car manufacturer is her favorite, which fans of hers might already be aware of. (Hint: she's done partnerships with this car manufacturer before.)
In a new video interview from sports journalist Bob Pockrass, Blaney partied with Syndey Sweeney in Key West for New Year's Eve this past year. But that's not where he met her. Instead, the first time Blaney met Sweeney was during that NASCAR Racing Experience in Charlotte. And it was there that Blaney learned that when it came to a passion for cars, Sweeney is genuinely obsessed.

"She loves cars. She’s a big Ford person as well so that’s cool," Blaney said. "But yeah, she’s really into automobiles and different types of cars. She has an old Bronco, so we got talking about her old Bronco that she [re]built. Cause I got an ’85 and I think hers is like a mid-70s, early 70s. She’s a huge fan of cars and motorsports and it was neat to show her into my world a little bit."
In 2024, Blaney showed Sweeney and her fiancé, Jonathan Davino around the racetrack and took "them for some laps around Charlotte." He said that this led to his social circle joining up with Sweeney's, which is how the New Year's Eve party came about.
In addition to her love of cars, Blaney emphasizes that Sweeney is cool and "down-to-earth," especially when hanging around and talking about stuff she loves. "She’s just a person like everybody else," he says.
As of right now, Sweeney is not scheduled to be in any movies that require her to drive a racecar. Here's hoping that changes very, very soon.
The next major NASCAR race, Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray happens on February 2 at 8 pm in Winston-Salem North Carolina. It will air on FOX.
