Adrien Brody Would Star in a Marvel Movie Under One Condition
Fresh off a Best Actor Academy Award nomination for his work in The Brutalist, Adrien Brody has weighed in on whether or not he'd enter into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The Oscar-winner nearly joined the comic book movie ranks as he auditioned for the role of The Joker in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight, nearly 20 years ago. The role of course went to Heath Ledger, and he was awarded a posthumous Oscar of his own.
After missing out on the massive DC opportunity, could one with Marvel be in the future?
Brody joined the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast and discussed his relationship with superhero movies, even saying working with Marvel could be "amazing," if the right director is in the chair.

"If I was presented with an opportunity to play an interesting character with a filmmaker that elevated me and gave me space to do something vastly different in that world, it sounds amazing," he told host Josh Horowitz. "You have this wonderful machine [with Marvel]. [They] know all the techniques and tools [and] stand behind these movies and they've done something I think is enormous."
The actor couldn't discount how much the movies mean to the fans as well.
"People love them. Who wouldn't want to be part of something beloved? It would take a tone I related to," he told the program.
As for his auditioning for The Dark Knight Joker role, he recalled he "wasn't close." He did however reveal playing the Crown Prince of Crime in a Christopher Nolan Batman movie would have been a "dream role."
