Netflix Raises Prices Again on the Most Popular Streaming Plan
While various streaming services battle for relevance, there's no denying that HBO Max, Paramount+, Apple TV+, Hulu and Disney+ are all fighting for second place. Now—and for the foreseeable future—Netflix is the king of the streamers. If you only have one streaming service, you likely have Netflix. To keep that service, you'll now have to pay nearly $2 full dollars more than you're already paying.
According to Deadline, Netflix is raising prices across all of its tiers, which will be effective pretty much immediately. This is how it shakes out:
- The low-cost $6.99 ad tier will now be $7.99 a month.
- The middle-range (and most popular) Standard Plan, which has no ads will jump from $15.49 to $17.99. Factoring in taxes that's a $2 increase, maybe more.
- The Premium Plan, which includes 4K streaming video, will go from $22.99 to $24.99.

Men's Journal has independently verified that the price increase is already in effect if you want to change plans in your Netflix account. As of this writing, if you already have the Standard Plan (and you probably do) it's not clear when this price hike will kick in.
As Deadline pointed out, Netflix told its shareholders recently: "As we continue to invest in programming and deliver more value for our members, we will occasionally ask our members to pay a little more so that we can re-invest to further improve Netflix." In 2023 and 2024, Netflix saw an increase in subscribers overall, meaning, that whatever problems everyone is facing in the economy, Netflix remains chill and prosperous.
