Jason Kelce’s Ex-Teammate Knows Who He’d Root for in Eagles–Chiefs Super Bowl
Super Bowl LIX is just a few weeks away on Feb. 9, and for the second time in two years, it looks very much like it could be shaping up to a showdown between the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs. The last time the two teams went head to head was Super Bowl LVII back in 2023 when Jason Kelce was still with the Eagles.
But just because Kelce is now retired, it doesn't mean that he'll necessarily be rooting for his brother Travis Kelce to bring home his team's fifth title in six NFL seasons.
TMZ Sports spoke with former Eagles defensive tackle Fletcher Cox, who played alongside Kelce for 12 seasons. Given that Philadelphia will be playing on home turf against the Washington Commanders during Sunday's NFC Championship Game, Cox thinks it will be a sure win with the Eagles leading by 10 points.
When asked whether he thinks Kelce will be rooting for his little brother or his team, Cox said smiling, and without hesitation, "We know he's going with his team."
Last year, Kelce was famously seen openly rooting for his brother and the Kansas City Chiefs at the Super Bowl, but it was only after the Eagles got knocked out in the wild card round in the playoffs.
Cox was also asked what he thinks about Eagles rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels heading into Sunday's game.
"He's playing at high level for a rookie, but he's gotta come to the Linc this weekend and he's got to deal with our fans," the 34-year-old said. "The atmosphere is gonna be crazy, so I'm excited to see how he responds, how the Eagles are gonna be, I know the coach is doing a great job leading those guys."
"It's really been exciting to watch this team grow over this season," he added.
In addition to the Eagles playing the Commanders, the Chiefs will also face off against the Buffalo Bills in the ACF Championship on Sunday to see which two teams will ultimately make it to the Super Bowl.
