'Mission: Impossible 8' Director Teases Wild New Stunt: 'Most Difficult Thing We've Ever Done'
Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning director Christopher McQuarrie is really building up one of the stunts in his and Tom Cruise's upcoming eighth entry in the action franchise.
The new movie features Cruise returning as super spy Ethan Hunt to supposedly finish off his battle against rogue villain network The Entity. The movie's first official trailer promises serious Cruise stunt work, from underwater deep-sea diving (and unconscious on the ocean floor) to hanging off planes. He can also be seen running from trucks for good measure.
Speaking with Empire (via a GamesRadar report), McQuarrie said one stunt in particular Cruise performs in the movie got a serious reaction during a small test screening. He declared it "the most difficult thing" they had done during his time with the franchise.
"We had a small screening and someone said, 'I was suffocating throughout the entire sequence. I almost had a heart attack.' And I thought, 'I guess we did something right,'" the director told the magazine.
The Final Reckoning indicates it will be the final act for Cruise's Ethan Hunt character, but nothing has been confirmed as of yet.
"I need you to trust me… one last time," Cruise as Hunt says in the movie's trailer.

Along with Cruise the heart attack-inducing movie stars Hayley Atwell, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Simon Pegg, and Ving Rhames. Reckoning will be the fourth installment directed by McQuarrie.
