First 'Daredevil: Born Again' Trailer Reveals How Kingpin and the Punisher Return
It seems like only yesterday, but somehow, the smash-hit Netflix series Daredevil dropped way back in 2015. Ten years later (yes, a full decade) Daredevil is back. Or more specifically, he's Daredevil: Born Again. In 2015, the various Netflix Marvel shows had sort of murky continuity connections to the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, but now, after Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) and She-Hulk (2022), Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) has been fully integrated into the MCU.
And now, after a very long wait, we have a brand new trailer for the upcoming reboot series, confirmation of the release date, and new insight into how mega-villain Kingpin (Vincent D'Onofrio) and fellow vigilante, the Punisher (Jon Bernthal) return to the series.
Here's the brand-new trailer for Daredevil: Born Again!
The trailer is framed around Matt having coffee at a diner with the Kingpin, who we quickly learn has become the mayor of New York City. Matt Murdock has retired from fighting crime and the Kingpin wants to know why. Throughout the trailer we see a new massive crime wave happening, which is surely linked to the Kingpin running the city. There's also a hint that Matt stopped fighting crime because of some big mistake in the past.
On top of all of that, we also get glimpses of Jon Bernthal returning as the Punisher, though not fully decked out in his famous skull-logo shirt. It looks like hard times have fallen on the Punisher and his return will be connected to Dardevil's comeback, too.
Overall, the trailer makes very few connections to the lighthearted appearances of Daredevil in No Way Home and She-Hulk. Back in 2021, Kingpin's return was teased in the series Hawkeye, but now, it seems that a lot has happened since then, too.
Ultimately, Daredevil: Born Again looks like a full continuation of the excellent and gritty Netflix show from 2015. If anyone was worried that Disney+ was going to water this down, it clearly looks like the opposite is happening. This Daredevil is crazier than ever.
Daredevil: Born Again hits Disney+ on March 4.
