Jodie Comer Promises '28 Years Later' Will Be Even Scarier Than the Original
Jodie Comer was legitimately scared of her zombie-like costars in the upcoming 28 Years Later.
The Killing Eve actress will be portraying the character Isla in Danny Boyle's post-apocalyptic follow-up to 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later, and discussed with Empire Magazine just how freaky things got for her while filming.
"The thing about our stunt performers playing the infected is they really don't take the speed off for you. They chase you," she said. "There were so many moments where I felt like I was actually running for my life!"
While Comer could get spooked by the intensity of the undead chasing her, she said director Boyle told her "I love this stuff."
When she asked him why that was, he replied, "Because you just have to go there. You can't fake it. You have to really go there in order for the audience to be with you."
Boyle is returning to the franchise more than two decades after directing its first installment, 28 Days Later.
In the film, Comer's Isla is married to Aaron Taylor-Johnson's Jamie as they raise a son named Spike, played by Alfie Williams, while they navigate a world amongst the frightening infected.

Here's the new film's synopsis, courtesy of IMDB: "It's been almost three decades since the rage virus escaped a biological weapons laboratory, and now, still in a ruthlessly enforced quarantine, some have found ways to exist amidst the infected. One such group of survivors lives on a small island connected to the mainland by a single, heavily-defended causeway. When one of the group leaves the island on a mission into the dark heart of the mainland, he discovers secrets, wonders, and horrors that have mutated not only the infected but other survivors as well."
Starring alongside Comer, Taylor-Johnson, and Williams are Ralph Fiennes, Jack O'Connell, and Erin Kellyman.
28 Years Later hits theaters June 20. Check out the trailer below.
